Iran has asserted complete control over the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most critical maritime trade chokepoints. Major General Mostafa Izadi, Deputy Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), delivered this assertion during a public gathering, stating that Tehran's control over the waterway will persist for as long as the Islamic Republic desires. The remarks were reported by Iranian state news agency IRNA and carried by international outlets including Dawn.
Addressing attendees in the central Iranian city of Khomein, General Izadi highlighted the armed forces' technological and operational capabilities in the region. He emphasized that the IRGC's naval and aerospace divisions maintain active oversight and assert distinct intelligence superiority across the strategically sensitive strait.
During his address, the senior commander also warned against foreign attempts to destabilize the nation. He accused adversaries of trying to alienate the public from national realities, noting that public unity and continuous support remain essential to defending Iran's strategic assets and neutralizing hostile plots.
Given that a significant share of global maritime crude exports passes through the Strait of Hormuz, the assertion underscores sustained geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, with international maritime monitors closely tracking developments along the vital corridor.
“As a primary arterial chokepoint for international energy transit, any assertion of exclusive military control over the Strait of Hormuz holds profound implications for regional stability and global oil markets.”
