During an exchange of festive greetings in Monirampur, Jashore, State Minister for Power and Energy Anindya Islam Amit emphasized that discrimination among citizens has no place in society. Addressing an event organized by the Hazirhat Sarbajanin Durga Mandir committee on Wednesday morning, he noted that the founding philosophy of BNP, established by late President Ziaur Rahman, treats people of all faiths equally, recognizing humanity above all divisions.
Presided over by Bikash Chandra Roy, head of the temple committee, the gathering heard Amit explain that Durga Puja's universal nature comes from its ability to bring joy to every household, whether in the plains or the hills. He noted that differences in dialect or faith cannot divide citizens, reiterating that the single and defining identity of every resident is being a Bangladeshi.
Highlighting Jashore as a long-standing model of communal harmony, the State Minister warned that certain opportunist quarters occasionally attempt to breed mistrust and discord among communities. He urged citizens and local authorities to remain exceptionally alert so that no vested quarter can undermine the peaceful coexistence in the region.
Local administration officials, law enforcement representatives, and senior district BNP leaders attended the gathering. Following the event, State Minister Amit visited the residence of ailing Monirampur Upazila BNP General Secretary Asaduzzaman Mintu to inquire after his health and extend wishes for a speedy recovery.
“The presence of senior leadership at grassroots religious celebrations sends a reassuring message of inclusivity and social solidarity. Emphasizing a unified national identity while cautioning against troublemakers reinforces peace and communal stability at the regional level.”
