Exactly 31 days after recovering the victim's body, the investigating officer submitted the report against four accused individuals on Tuesday. District police confirmed that initial investigations established primary culpability against the suspects.
According to the investigation report, 19-year-old Saiful Islam, alias Tuhin, was the mastermind behind the gruesome killing, aided by Md. Siam (19). Additionally, two minors aged 15 and 16 have been named as direct participants in the murder. Under the Children Act, the two underage suspects have been categorized as juveniles, and charges have been filed under Sections 302, 201, and 34 of the Penal Code.
While the charge sheet was submitted swiftly, the bereaved family now waits for justice. Case plaintiff and Apratim's father, KM Firoz Shahriar, stated that the investigating team informed him of the submission. Expressing his grief, he said all their dreams were centered on their son and their only remaining demand is an expedited trial resulting in the maximum punishment for those responsible.
Additional Superintendent of Police Lutfor Rahman noted that the charge sheet was finalized after thoroughly scrutinizing evidence and witness accounts. The court is now set to initiate the next legal proceedings. The tragic death of the schoolboy has sparked widespread calls across the community for an exemplary and speedy resolution to the case.
“The involvement of juveniles in such a heinous crime highlights a concerning pattern of social and moral decline. While the police's rapid submission of the charge sheet within a month is commendable, ensuring a swift and uncompromised trial will be critical to establishing accountability.”
