The Food Minister has issued a stern warning to stop all forms of irregularities and corruption in government food warehouses. He made it clear that no negligence or manipulation regarding the food security of the people will be tolerated. This strict message was delivered to maintain proper grain stocks and ensure transparency in distribution across all government warehouses in the country.
According to Food Ministry sources, this decision comes after allegations of rice and wheat theft from government warehouses in various parts of the country. Surveillance is being stepped up particularly to prevent incidents like short-weighing, storing low-quality rice, and smuggling food grains using fake documents. The minister announced that regular surprise raids will be conducted in every warehouse from now on.
During a meeting with officials of the Directorate General of Food, the minister stated that no one will be allowed to play with food grains purchased with taxpayers' money. If any official or dealer is found guilty of irregularities, departmental cases as well as criminal actions will be taken against them.
The role of government warehouses is crucial for ensuring future food security and controlling the market. Therefore, instructions have been given to quickly complete the installation of CCTV cameras and digital weighing scales using modern technology in the warehouses. Officials hope that this will significantly reduce irregularities.
