Government issues new Import Policy 2026 to ease business

The government has issued the new Import Policy 2026 to make the country's trade and business easier and more dynamic. The Ministry of Commerce recently published a gazette notification in this regard. The main goal of this new policy is to modernize and simplify the import process so that businesses can clear goods in less time.

Special emphasis has been placed on supporting local industries in this new policy. In particular, the rules for importing raw materials for factories have been made much simpler than before. Additionally, the policy includes preparations to tackle global trade challenges when Bangladesh graduates from a least developed country to a developing nation.

Business leaders have welcomed this government initiative. They say the new rules will reduce the hassle of goods being stuck at ports and make it easier to keep the prices of daily essentials under control. However, they have demanded close monitoring to ensure the proper implementation of this policy.

The Ministry of Commerce stated that the new import policy will help strengthen the country's economy. The government also plans to make the import process completely paperless by increasing the use of digital technology.
