Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has apprehended two Bangladeshi citizens and a suspected human trafficker while they were trying to illegally cross into India through the Dowarabazar border in Sunamganj. A special patrol team from the Bashtola BOP intercepted the group in the Armanchhara area late Wednesday night as part of ongoing border surveillance.

According to BGB, the detained broker has been identified as Amir (22), a resident of Islampur village in Dowarabazar. The other two detainees are Abul Hossain (42) from Jhikargachha, Jashore, and Fatema (18) from Sharsha. Preliminary findings indicate they hired the smuggler to travel across the border to visit their relatives living in India.

During initial interrogation, Amir confessed that he regularly smuggled individuals across the border for money and handed them over to Indian counterparts. Two other accomplices, identified as Anik Mia (24) and Alauddin (54) from Chowdhurypara, fled the scene when the BGB patrol approached. Authorities are currently searching for them.

Law enforcement agencies continue to maintain high alert to curb illegal border crossings and trafficking networks. Formal legal steps are underway to hand over the detainees to Dowarabazar Police Station for further legal proceedings, with BGB reiterating its commitment to tighter border vigilance.
