Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami held an extensive preparatory meeting to ensure the success of its announced long march toward Khulna and Kushtia. The session took place on Wednesday evening at the party's central headquarters in Maghbazar, Dhaka. Presided over by Secretary General and Long March Implementation Committee Convener Mia Golam Porwar, central and metropolitan leaders met to finalize convoy logistics, route security, and mass engagement across several districts.
According to the finalized route schedule, the programme will kick off at 7:00 am on October 31 with an inaugural rally at the south gate of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman is scheduled to deliver the keynote address as the chief guest alongside leaders from an 11-party alliance. Following the opening rally, a convoy of around 1,000 vehicles will set out at 8:00 am via the Mawa expressway and the Padma Bridge, joined by professionals, doctors, artists, and journalists.
Multiple wayside rallies have been structured along the convoy's southwestern journey. The first stop is scheduled for 9:00 am at Zajira in Shariatpur, followed by rallies in Fakirhat of Bagerhat at 11:00 am, Babri Square in Khulna at 12:30 pm, and Phultala at 2:00 pm. In the afternoon, events will take place at Murali intersection in Jashore and Jhenaidah bus terminal, culminating in a grand finale at Kushtia Zilla School ground at 8:30 pm.
During the strategy session, Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar urged organizers and grassroots leaders to maintain strict discipline and avoid public inconvenience along the travel corridor. Top party leaders including Assistant Secretaries General Rafiqul Islam Khan, Hamidur Rahman Azad, and Ehsanul Mahbub Zubayer reviewed coordination across discipline, public relations, and logistical teams to carry out the demonstration effectively.
“Through this extensive cross-district long march, Jamaat aims to demonstrate organizational discipline and mobilize grassroots support across the southwestern belt. Traversing eight districts from Dhaka to Kushtia serves as a calculated show of political strength and outreach ahead of national political developments.”
