The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police has arrested a youth on charges of harassing and inappropriately touching a college student. The incident occurred while the student was returning home from college. The arrested youth is currently being interrogated by the police.
According to the police, the student was walking down the street on the day of the incident when the accused made offensive remarks and touched her inappropriately. Following the incident, the victim and her family filed a written complaint at the local police station. Immediately after receiving the complaint, a special team of DB police launched an operation.
DB officials stated that they identified the suspect's location using technology and analyzing local CCTV footage. Subsequently, they conducted a swift raid and arrested him. The police added that they are always active in ensuring the safety and security of women.
A case has been filed against the arrested youth under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act. Police said he will be sent to court with a remand prayer. Local residents welcomed the swift action of the police and demanded exemplary punishment for the offender.
