Two Arrested with Foreign Pistol and Ammunition in Mirpur Checkpost

Police detained two youths along with a foreign firearm and live ammunition during a security search in the capital's Mirpur area. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon at a police checkpost set up near Metro Rail Station No. 11 under Pallabi Police Station. The arrested individuals have been identified as Moshiul Azam Orin, 36, and Shanto Islam, 27. Apart from the weapon, law enforcement also confiscated the motorcycle they were riding.

According to police sources, regular vehicle checks were being conducted around 5:00 PM in the Pallabi zone. When officers signaled a motorcycle carrying two men to pull over, the riders attempted to speed away to evade inspection. However, the alert police personnel on duty reacted swiftly, blocking their route and taking both individuals into custody on the spot.

A thorough search was immediately carried out at the scene. Hassan Mohammad Nasser Rikabdar, Deputy Commissioner of DMP's Mirpur Division, confirmed that a foreign-made pistol, a magazine, and two rounds of live ammunition were recovered directly from Moshiul Azam Orin. The suspects could not provide a legitimate reason for carrying the firearm.

Both suspects were taken to Pallabi Police Station for detailed questioning regarding the origin of the weapon and whether they intended to commit any criminal acts. Officials stated that regular legal proceedings under the Arms Act are underway to file charges against the duo.
