Import-export to remain suspended at Hili port on Wednesday

Import and export activities through the Hili land port in Dinajpur will remain suspended on Wednesday. No cargo trucks will travel between India and Bangladesh on this day. However, the movement of passport-carrying passengers between the two countries will remain normal, according to port authorities.

Usually, trade at the Hili port is suspended during national holidays, religious festivals, or special occasions. Traders mentioned that due to this one-day closure, unloading and loading of goods will be temporarily halted. Every day, essential items like onions, potatoes, and stones are imported from India through this port.

Leaders of the Hili Land Port Importers and Exporters Group stated that the Indian traders and customs authorities have been notified in advance about the holiday. Preparations have been made to ensure that cargo trucks waiting on the other side can enter Bangladesh quickly after the holiday.

Although closed on Wednesday, all port activities will resume in full swing from Thursday morning. Traders hope that this one-day closure will not have a major impact on the local market. Port authorities have also assured quick operations to make up for the temporary halt.
