Government reconstitutes cabinet committee on national awards

The government has reconstituted the cabinet committee on national awards to evaluate nominations for various state honors. The Cabinet Division recently issued a notification reforming the 'Cabinet Committee on National Awards'. The adviser to the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs will serve as the convener of this newly formed committee.

According to the government decision, several key advisers have been included as members of this committee. Among them are the advisers for law, home affairs, education, and cultural affairs. The Cabinet Secretary will assist the committee in its secretarial duties. This new committee replaces the one formed during the previous government's tenure.

The committee will primarily finalize the names of nominees for prestigious national awards, including the Independence Award, Ekushey Padak, and Begum Rokeya Padak. They will review the lists of names sent by various ministries and departments to select the most deserving candidates. The recommended list will then be sent to the Chief Adviser for final approval.

Every year, these state awards are presented to distinguished individuals for their outstanding contributions to various fields in the country. Officials hope that the formation of the new committee will make the award selection process more transparent and efficient.
