The new Minister for Information and Broadcasting spoke to journalists on his first day at the Secretariat. He clearly stated that the government has no intention of taking away media freedom. Instead of controlling the media, the government wants to create an environment where everyone can work responsibly and follow the rules.
Upon arriving at the office, the minister held a meeting with ministry officials. Later, speaking to reporters, he emphasized that a free press is essential for a democratic country. He assured that the government would work to improve the working environment for journalists and resolve their issues.
Representatives from various media organizations congratulated the new minister. During the meeting, they highlighted challenges such as fake news, journalists' safety, and financial struggles of media houses. The minister listened to their concerns and promised cooperation.
The minister added that laws and regulations would be updated to keep pace with modern times so that everyone can work freely. However, he urged journalists to avoid spreading fake news and to focus on presenting accurate and objective information.
