A government official has been forced to flee his home after refusing to pay extortion money demanded by a local BNP leader. Meanwhile, allegations have surfaced that his elderly mother and brother have been kept confined in their own house. The victim official and his family are currently suffering from a severe lack of security.
According to local sources, a local BNP leader and his followers had been demanding a large sum of extortion money from the government official for several days. When he refused to pay, he was threatened in various ways. At one point, fearing for his life, he left the area. Following this, the attackers targeted his home and confined his mother and brother.
Tension has been running high in the area following the incident. The victim's family has reported the matter to the local administration and police. However, the accused BNP leader has denied all allegations against him. The police stated that they are investigating the matter and prompt action will be taken.
